"My mother, Gladys was at the River of Love Adult Care Home for over four years. I can't begin to express my gratitude for the care and compassion that she received from Dorina, the owner/operator and her staff.
Mom had been at two much larger assisted living places prior to the River of Love. I had to take mom out of the first one due to lack of care. The second residence was fine, but after her condition worsened, I had to find a situation where she could get more specialized care. My sister and I used an advisor for seniors to find a home for mom that would meet our requirements. The advisor showed us six homes and my sister and I both felt right away that the River of Love was what we wanted for our mother. What a wonderful decision!
The process of moving into the home was made very easy for our family. Dorina was friendly and very efficient. She stepped up and made sure that mom had everything that she needed ñ medicine (they have a pharmacy that they use), doctors, hairdressers, exercise, etc. It was a comfort to know that everything was so expertly handled ñ but with a caring attitude. Dorina has always tried to hire the best possible caregivers to help her out and provide the same wonderful care that she gives each and every resident.
Dorina and her staff provide a safe and pleasant home. The house is always neat, tidy, fresh smelling and nicely decorated. The main area of the house serves as a place where the residents are encouraged to socialize - if they want to. Privacy is respected if that is what the resident prefers. There are plenty of books, puzzles and games to keep everyone occupied and keep their minds as sharp as can be. The staff also spends time with the residents talking about their prior life to stimulate their memories. Daily exercise sessions keep bodies in the best shape possible. The backyard patio is a very inviting place when the weather is nice. Mom enjoyed having her own room where she had some of her personal things that added a "touch of home". She especially loved the family photos that she had placed all around her room. Also, with Dorinaís children and extended family around - the house has a family feeling.
Meals are homemade and nutritious. Almost every day there is a delicious smelling homemade soup simmering on the stove that adds to the homey feeling of the residence. Meals are served in the dining room or in the individual rooms. Dorina and her staff strive to provide the type of food that each resident prefers ñ one lady gets cake almost daily. Birthdays and holidays are festive occasions with lots of food, families and fun. Residents are made to feel special not only on their birthdays but, everyday.

"Dad came to live at River of Love this year, shortly after our Mom passed away. He was received with love and respect, and has been treated with nothing but kindness and compassion from Dorina and Natalia. The transition to living alone was softened and he seems well-adjusted to his new home. River of Love has truly lived up to its name!
During a recent visit I shared several tasty, wholesome meals with the residents and thoroughly enjoyed the food and the fellowship. The aroma of home-cooked meals adds to the home-like atmosphere, and helps my Dad's appetite.
We "shopped around" before deciding on a place for Dad to live, and once we met Dorina and toured her home, it became obvious that this would be the place for him. The home is beautiful and Dorina and Natalia obviously have a heart for caring for others. My family feels confident that Dad is where he'll receive the best care - my sister and I live on opposite ends of the country, and really appreciate Dorina's communication and assurances - we are so grateful to have found River of Love. The River of Love Adult Care Home has provided daily care and protection from harm for my mother, Ruby for over two years. Dorina Cristian, the owner/operator and her family operate the home efficiently and ensure that each resident has all the comforts of home. The look and feel of the home is clean, family friendly and beautifully decorated.
Close attention to paid to the needs of the residents. Dorina and other caregivers encourage the residents to physically and intellectually stimulate their bodies and minds according to their individual abilities. Residents are encouraged to spend time together and with the family in the family/public areas of the home, but the decision is up to each resident. Doctors and nurses come to the home to provide care to some of the residents. Residents are given their medications and monitored to ensure that they are ingested. The philosophy of the owner is for residents to take only the prescribed medications that are absolutely essential to the person's well-being. There are no overmedicated residents in this home.
Daily meals are nutritious and served on a predictable schedule. Birthdays are celebrated with the family members of all the residents and the extended family of Dorina. The food is always marvelous and delicious showing the culinary talents of many of Dorina's family members.
My mother participated in the selection of this home as home. She liked the fact that there are young children present on occasion. She is an observer and enjoys the liveliness of a household with people of many ages. She enjoys having her own room with her own personal belongs in her space. Ruby's extended family members enjoy visits to the River of Love Adult Care Home.

This is a letter of recommendation for the River of Love group home and owner/manager Dorina Cristian. I am extremely pleased with the quality of care that Edna Sacks is receiving. She has gained in health and happiness during her residence at the River of Love home.
The name of this home is very appropriate as there is constant and continuous attention to the details of how the resident is feeling each day. She is interested in their lives and the adventures they have had. The home has a multi-generational family appeal. Residents benefit from being with Dorina's children and extended family members. Meals are wholesome, cooked from scratch, tasty and served on time. Residents are always clean and up for the day.
Dorina does extra special things that make a resident feel special and loved. One example is each resident's birthday is celebrated with a party. All family members of all residents are invited to celebrate the occasion. Dorina and her family cook up a feast and she asks the honoree what flavor cake they would like for the dinner. She does their nails, hair and makeup. It is always an occasion to remember.
If it were my time to be in a group home I would choose River of Love and know I would be well cared for and loved.
